Classic vortex
The vortex with centrifugal flow is designed as a mechanical filtration device for the separation of suspended solids in RAS or aquaponics. Water is fed tangentially along the wall into the vortex, creating a circular motion of the water in the tank. The centrifugal force helps settle the coarsest contaminants in the center of the settling cone. The finest dirt is captured by a brush pre-filter, available as an option. The water is drained through the central drain.
The captured dirt settles at the bottom of the cone. The cone is drained using a drain pipe located under the bottom of the vortex.
The efficiency of the vortex with centrifugal flow is around 70% depending on the flow rate and particle structure.
The advantages of the vortex classic with circular flow are zero power consumption, zero breakdown, easy operation, hight efficiency and low rinse water consumption.
In aquaponics with a lower fish population, the vortex classic with circular flow can be used as the main mechanical filtration. In RAS with higher fish stocking, the vortex classic with circular flow is used as a sedimentation device before the drum filter, thus saving mechanical wear of the drum filter and reducing the consumption of rinse water.

Vortex is made of primary PP ( polypropylene ) without added recyclate with UV stabilisation and passes the leak test. A certificate of leak test is issued.
